Eight years ago on the Pasty Cam: 11/06/98^{Printed on Recycled Internet}

A blanket of snow covered the grounds at Still Waters eight years ago. We had the same thing Friday; in fact, we had to have the lot plowed at the Hut. Alas, the snow is now gone and temperatures are expected to be in the low 50s today. Perhaps its not time to put the bike away after all.

JH & Cotton: Thanks for the kind words! We had a great time and everything went pretty well. So I think this is the last time I have to give a party for 200 of my closest friends! I'm now done with open houses (which are a breeze) and weddings (which are not).

Since my email still isn't corrected I'd like to leave a note to Sharon Smith if I may. She mentioned in the notes of Nov. 5th about clouds. Good Morning, on Election Day! I think today got off to a great start, since I got a really cool treat. I happened to glance at Mich Tech's Fund Cam. I thought it looked too high for any cars to pass through, and then it started to lower. Sadly, though, I did not get to see what went under the bridge, to cause it to be opened in the first place. Oh well.

All I caught was the following:

Bridge in "summer" position from sunrise thru 9:25AM:



Bridge in "winter" position...



from 9:30AM...



until 11:20AM.

Bridge back in "summer" position...



from 11:25AM until 3:00PM.

Maybe a couple of trains went through late this morning?

(Still kinda early for snomobiles!)

Did you see it up higher?

Yes, when I first caught it, I thought that it was in the up position, as in too high for any cars to go over it; I believe that was at about 9:22 this morning? Anyway, I did watch it move down to the summer position. All traffic was stopped, as shown on the motion camera. Then, the traffic started again going both directions, I thought. I looked at it periodically during the morning, since I was curious, and it kept changing positions. Maybe no boats went through? Maybe they were working on the bridge's mechanism or something?

Anyway, I am always fascinated, watching the bridge mechanism move, and the bridge change positions. (I was surprised to see it in the summer position.) It was almost like watching Michigan's weather change. :-)

I do have to agree that I had thought that it might be a bit early for the winter position, but I don't know that much about it?
