Today's shot of St. Henry's Lutheran Church in Nisula, by Z-Man, is not the first time this quaint little church has appeared on these pages. Back in December 2004, Z-Man captured it in a gentle glow, while this photo is more of a bold statement. The clouds seem to emanate right out from behind the building, while the natural backlighting brightens the clouds. I love how the setting sun glows orange through the church windows, giving an illusion that the lights are on inside.

Now THAT is an incredible shot Z-Man!!! I have a pic similar to this with Quincy #2 in the background, but it doesn't make the impact this one does. Good job Z ;-)

What an incredible picture! It almost looks like the shadow of the church is on the clouds, though, of course, it can't be since the light is behind the church. Beautiful!!

yes; great picture reminds me of another UP church that is on the south side of route 2 along lake michigan as one heads west from the bridge to escanaba.

I think Z-Man titled this picture "Brush Strokes". Wouldn't this be a great Christmas card? What's best about the UP is that most of the churches are modestly built. Saw one up there near Ontonagon, I think on Route 26 and it was a log cabin.
