Eight years ago, Jonathan Hopper used PastyVision to capture this fall scene by the Phoenix church. He reported that, at 3:05 pm, the first few snowflakes of the season were spotted.

In the last 24 hours, we've had a bit of everything: snow, rain, sleet, and winds from 30-40 mph all night. Some enterprising members of the high school cross country ski team were spotted at the Portage Lake Golf Course yesterday. Even the Weather Channel got into the act, sending a reporter up from Milwaukee to do live reports from downtown Houghton.

More snow/wind/rain on the way...should be a wonderful day to be a football fan at Michigan Tech tomorrow. Home field advantage? Complete with a plow?

I remember watching a few Tech games in the snow, although this weekend if we were there, we'd be braving 41 to Marquette for the Tech/Northern game Saturday night.....

Talk about scary: I can't find any light blue plastic tablecloths for my daughter's wedding in 3 weeks! The whole color scheme is built around that color of tablecloth that Gordon's used to carry. Now that's scary!

Talked to a black cat while on my way doing groceries today, got a purr for an answer and missed by some jerk in a car just a minute afterwards. Friday 13th? Not for me.

Today would have been my Mother Catherine Olive Du Long {nee Stanton} ninety fifth birthday, boy do I miss her. Cold and windy here in Berkley, got to go and chase the garbage cans and lids.
