This photo first appeared on the Pasty Cam around Halloween of 2001, with no one able to identify the neighborhood or the characters. I don't recall how this shot came to us, so take a close look and see if the cars-houses-faces trigger any memories. We believe it is somewhere in the Keweenaw. Inquiring minds want to know ;->
A special hello to all of the folks in Marquette County who are discovering Pasty Central as a result of the current Broadband project underway with Pasty.NET - hooking up DSL in several townships, and extending the reach of high-speed beyond to more remote areas. Perhaps we should start a Marquette Pasty Cam for all the former residents wanting to stay in touch.
This Pasty Cam is just fine. It's for everyone from everywhere. Right?? I was wondering if the picture was taken in front of the old store in Tamarack City?

There are leaves on the trees and it doesn't look like it's cold enough to be a Keweenaw Halloween.
I don't recognize anyone.

Certainly some more Marquette pictures and history at Pasty Cam would be welcome!

With all the discussion yesterday regarding #175 and Copper Range #29 at Ripley I thought I would pass along a group of photos, taken by Bill Buhrmaster on 10/22/06, showing the current restoration status at North Freedom of #29. They spent the summer repainting the boiler and smokebox and she looks wonderful. Still to go is the cab and the tender, left for next year. You can find the photos here at my Keweenaw Photoshop: http://www.copperrange.org/photo24.htm
It looks like apartments or condos across the street to the left in the picture, none of these in Tamarack City when I was growing up in that area in Hubbell..Just one more clue to this puzzle.

here is a WAG: In front of a school in early '50s (due to cars), possibly Charles Briggs in Laurium?

Liz, Great thinking! I knew it was old but didn't even really see the cars. And it's definitely a warm year. So who knows if it's even the Copper Country?

Thoe look like old houses & cars to me. People didn't have let alone know what "condos" were back then Ed.

It may have been for a 4th of July parade, too, I remember people dressing in costumes for them. I don't think folks would put a devil mask on their child today and have Lucifer on the shirtfront like the boy on the left. The pc police would be after them for something. Isn't the cowboy hat from the early 50's?

It looks like the corner of 4th & Iroquois looking north.

I would LOVE a Marquette Pasty Cam! (I'd still come here a lot, honest!)
Ex-Marquetteian. (?)

Gary, Thanks for making my WAG a little more believable!

A word from the past: The boy with the cowboy hat might be an Oja. Okay, I dug. It's somebody else's turn.
