On the Bootjack Road, just outside of the city limits of Lake Linden, Steve Haagen captured the St. Joseph Church, bordered by the colors of autumn. The steeples pointing skyward are catching the rays of sunshine just right so they seem to be glowing brightly against the coloring leaves. This is Front St., Lake Linden at its finest, adorned in the cloak of fall.

good morning all. It is a great day. I love these pics with all the color. There is no other place that I have been to that has the brilliant colors of the U.P. Right now I have to settle for pictures. I tell my hubby I want to go on a road trip and he just laughs. (He's not a Yooper)

What a glorious morning it is! The colors are phenomenal! It's a mild morning, the wind is singing through the trees, the ground is crunching underfoot, the birds are singing their songs, and the SMELL of Autumn...WOW!!!!!!!!....it is simply fabulous...does it get any better than this?
anita king (Anita5), One day your hubby will go on the road trip with you!! To see the fabalous colors of the Upper Peninsula. He just doesn't know what he is REALLY missing! And when he does go on that road trip with you he will realized how come I never wanted to come before?

Anita, Deb and Mr. Deb are spending the long weekend in the CC. I've been on the phone with her, and they are getting some wonderful pics. Let me know if you want me to have her send you some of those pics she has taken ;)

An unusual view of St. Joes. I believe the back (now)of the church was once the front. The church houses the finest pipe organ in the Keweenaw. Originally installed in 1916, the Casavant was enlarged to the original specifications in 2001. With the fine acoustics in the church the organ produces a gorgeous sound.

Just got back from a week of magnificent weather and colors in the Keweenaw. I went to Yom Kippur services at the Temple in Hancock. What a wonderful service and beautiful place. The congregation was super nice. Be back next Summer

JAD, my great grandmother, Aurelia Dupuis, played the organ in St. Joseph's for over 50 years. When I was there for my grandmother's funeral, the organist, David Short, showed me the organ and a certificate of congratulations from the pope to my great grandmother for her service to the church. Lake Linden is a great town.

Be sure to take a look at The Hut Progress report for a few pictures of the trial-run opening of The Hut that happened today.
The Hut will be closed Sunday; October 8, while we rest up for the weeks ahead.

Great shot of Lake Linden. Wish I'd have gone to the other side to see this shot. We were always coming down from Calumet. The view was gorgeous that way too though.
