It seems like the brightest colored leaves are always the first to start dropping. Like these vivid, red ones that Rebecca Frederick spotted in her travels around the Keweenaw. The forest floor begins its coloration now too, as the leaves gradually float down to pad the path. Before you know it, these brilliant specimens will be making a crunching sound underneath your feet and fall will be just a memory once more.

There's nothing prettier than the changing color of the Maple Leaf.

I especially like the bottom picture, so many brilliant colors. Rebecca has a very nice album.

One of many things I miss about the Keweenaw..... "real" seasons and color!!

All - I never been to the northern most part of the UP but have throughly enjoyed your pictures (like the one from today) and comments for almost a year now. It looks like a wonderful place to to call home!

Living in Texas now I truly miss the beautiful colors of fall.....but have to admit I don't miss the cold weather.

You missed the best part of the UP then Brian ;-) Obviously it's nothing like Houston; what houstonians call cold is a nice summer day in the Keweenaw. Still miss the colours though....

What I really miss about the Fall in Michigan is that "feeling" you get on a nice fall day. The grass in the meadows turn golden and dry and make a wonderful sound when the wind blows over them, a walk in the woods makes you slow down and enjoy the moment your in, and of course the colors. Breath taking every year.

I have never been to the UP - but this site for the last year has me yearning to come. I think it would be a wonderful place to call home. Your pictures and stories say it all! Love today's pictures and can't wait for the first snow pics! :) Thanks again for your site!
