Eight years ago, the Pasty Cam featured the famous Keweenaw snow thermometer. Each year, first-time visitors gaze at the indicator for the record snowfall year in amazement. Good thing all that snow isn't on the ground at the same time.

This year, the county has given the thermometer a face lift and replaced the mechanism used to move the arrow indicating the current snowfall total. Instead of a rope-and-pulley system, which was open to late-night alterations by ne'er-do-wells, the arrow is attached by a bolt. Who gets to climb up there at 10-below and move that arrow?
