Sheriff Ron and his youngest son had a little batting practice on the Pasty Cam on this day in 1998. It happens to be on the front lawn of the Eagle River Courthouse and Sheriff's residence. Wonder if any windows have ever caught a high fly to right field?

Early Happy Labor Day to all. Remember what it means and keep your minds on the important things!

Is the second picture also taken by the Eagle River Courthouse?

Oops, never mind. I guess I only had to read the caption. Sorry!

Good morning everyone :) Trying to get both eyes to stay open this morning ;) Need more coffee :)

The first thought that popped in my head when I saw this picture of Sheriff Ron playing ball with his son: How Norman Rockwell this is. Thanks Charlie for this delightful picture :)

Wasn't one of the Sheriff's children really really sick a few years ago? Does anyone know how he or she is doing & how old is the child now? Those kids are lucky to live where they do. They see Lake Superior every day & later in the year they can see & feed the many deer that come in their yard. Also they learn the difference between right & wrong by seeing the prisoners that are paying their time for doing their crime. Good lesson to learn early in life.

Some interesting fog pictures on Sharon's camera from mid-morning until just after noon today.

By Margaret, Amarillo TX (Margaret) on Sunday, September 3, 2006 - 02:54 pm:

eugenia: that happened the other day too. What strange science event happens to produce fog mid-day. We don't get that here (morning only). No matter what time of day, looking off Sharon's deck makes me smile: rain, snow, fog, sunshine!

By Charlie at Pasty Central (Chopper) on Sunday, September 3, 2006 - 02:55 pm:

Ron's son Ethan nearly lost his life at the Eagle River falls back in the mid 90's. He was under water a long time before being pulled out. Ethan spent a lot of time in a Children's Hospital in Minnesota, and when he returned he was quite diminished in muscular co-ordination, speech, etc. Over the years he has regained his strength and physical agility, and today does maintenance work for Houghton Township (mowing, trash collection, etc.) It has been remarkable to see his comeback.

By Cotton (Cotton) on Sunday, September 3, 2006 - 03:23 pm:

I'm glad to hear that Ethan survived his ordeal & is able to live a productive life. I remember when that happened & often wondered how he was.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, September 3, 2006 - 04:08 pm:

I'm also very happy that Ethan survived. I remember being told about it but then never did hear what happened to the boy. I'm so happy for the family that everything eventually turned out okay.
