By Kathina Stoneson (Kthecute1) on Sunday, August 6, 2006 - 01:28 pm:

Hi Margaret;

I live on Mt. Konocti in in Kelseyville...(Lake County,) CA. Mount Konocti is an old Volcano. Right down the hill is a street called Bottle Rock Road, which extends for miles & miles. The hillsides on that raod are all made from the beautiful black stones you mentioned above.

Hey, where's my Early Bird?

By Margaret, Amarillo TX (Margaret) on Sunday, August 6, 2006 - 04:02 pm:

Petosky would be better!

By Mr. Bill (Mrbill) on Sunday, August 6, 2006 - 04:34 pm:

Is that a '34 Ford?

I can't tell if it has '34 Plymouth sucide doors or not?

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Sunday, August 6, 2006 - 04:40 pm:

Very nice early 30's Ford street rod indeed. I've done my fair share of crusing the Keweenaw in my ride as well, a 68 Roadrunner.

And as far as rocks go, I'll take the obsidian over the petosky stone anyday; more fascinating geologic history behind the volcanic glass than a fossil ;-) Mt. Konocti has quite the history behind it from a geologic standpoint too.......

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Sunday, August 6, 2006 - 04:44 pm:

Actually Mr. Bill I think your right!! In Calumet there is a '37 Plymouth with a V-6 engine in it. Now that you jogged my memory with the Plymouth reference, I believe that is the one. If it is, it's a '37.

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Sunday, August 6, 2006 - 05:44 pm:

Hey Deb, I did't get one Saturday either! Where are you in MN? My daughter and son-in-law just spent the past week at Sandstone, MN. They just got back here (LP) this afternoon. We have a cousin at Virginia, MN. Go Tigers!!!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, August 6, 2006 - 05:58 pm:

Paul, Glad to hear it. I thought there was a conspiracy or something. We're in Annandale which is about 60 miles from the Twin Cities. We pass the exit to Sandstone every time we head home to the UP. And I had an aunt that lived not far from Virginia. Go Tigers is right! What a game, huh? It's hard being out here where everybody roots for the Twins. I like them too, but Go Tigers!

Better late than never with the First Post awards! :->

By JH (Thumbgardener) on Sunday, August 6, 2006 - 06:02 pm:

Deb and Paul, I think they might have run out of those little early bird things again. Hopefully someone remembers to order more. :)

By Ken ja Mimi from da UP (Kenjamimi) on Sunday, August 6, 2006 - 10:43 pm:

Might be interesting to some: Tomorrow the documentary, FIRE AND ICE, about the winter war between Finland and Russia will be shown on TV13 from Marquette at 8:00pm. Repeats Sat. at 6:30pm. Now's the time to see it, if you have missed it when it was on before. Talk about SISU! Hei hei, and kupainau.
