Summer comes to an end as we close out the month of August. Some of those near and dear to us have also come to the end of their time here on Earth with us. We take this last day of the month to honor and remember these folks:

I'd like to remember my grandma Normand who died on August 18 in 1981, 25 years ago. She is still missed.

In memory of my grandfathers, Tapio and Mala. Also in memory of family friend, Ray Wiig.

I’d like to remember my Dad and best friend, Bud Tunell, who passed away on August 12, 2006. Born and raised in Humboldt, MI, dad lived most of his live and is buried in Delaware; but he will always be remembered as a true “YOOPER”. I will always remembered dad for his warm smile and gentle handshake, he will sadly be missed but always loved and never forgotten. Until we meet again, your son, Jeff

After 2 1/2years of missing her beloved Richard, Senia Lahti passed on August 9, 2006 to reunite with her husband in the loving arms of God. Mom & Dad, we miss you both so much, and but we are happy that you are together again. We will forever hold you both in our hearts. I know that their heaven will include their favorite memories of the Copper Country where they were both born and raised.

Remembering today and always, our parents, Norman and Helen Pooley, Ed and Sophie Kuusisto. Our Aunt Lyle Pooley, cousin Janet Trasti, our dear little niece Karen Kuusisto who left us much too soon and our brother in law and friend, Wayne Hartmann. We love and miss you all.

Remembering my friend from Suomi College, Wayne Miller Carlson of Escanaba (actually Bayview Location). I often wonder how is parents and sister are? Wayne, you left us much too soon. Jeff

Remembering my friend, Sue Artusi, who passed away a week ago today, Aug. 24, 2006. She died way to young after fighting a short 5 month battle with breast cancer. Sue, all of us at MHS will miss you a great deal.

Would like to remember Dorothy Utzman Gronewald, a wonderful mother and beautiful person who passed 5 years ago on August 9th. She is missed terribly, but I know in my heart she is up there with Dad (Al Utzman) just dancing the polka and having a wonderful time. Love you Mom.

Remembering another family friend, Joyce Paulsen. She was raised in Washington State and married Howard Paulsen around WWII. She moved to near Trenary, where Howard was a logger. They raised two daughters, and she spent the last part of her life in a suburb west of Detroit.

She will be greatly missed.

I'd like you to remember my mother, Betty Cundy Beaudoin who passed away on October 28,1990. These fall days remind me so much of her last days with us before her death. Love you Mom!!!

I would like to remember my husband Ralph G. Geshel and my mom and dad, Irving and Florida Dulong. My brothers Walter and Reuben Dulong and my sister Dorothy DesJardin and sister Elaine Jean Dulong. Also my sister-in-laws, Norma and Val Dulong and my brother-in-law Eugene DesJardin and my nephew Alan DesJardin. Please remember them in your prayers and also Dennis O'Rourke, Jeannette Van Damme,Paul Saladin, Claude Perreault, and Leonard Assilin.

I miss you mama, tomorrow would have been your birthday. The tears never fail to flow when I smile and think of you. Cathrine Collins passed 3 years ago at the young age of 83. She could have lived 100 years and it would have been too soon for me to let you go.

Remembering my daughter Linda, my mother Ellen (Maki-Holster) Chopp, my dad Robert Arthur Holster, step-dad Joe Chopp and so many aunts, uncles and cousins. My gosh, how did my generation get to be the 'old folks' so soon? Praise the LORD, that this life isn't all there is!
