Summertime seems to bring out the best in folks and frogs here in the Keweenaw. These two boulder buddies were captured by Ashley Byykkonen on a recent excursion to one of the many brooks you can find hidden in the area. In typical "small town" fashion, the frogs are sharing their space, but also look to be trying to decide who should blink first in the game of stare down!

Still Waters Assisted Living Community is holding an open house and silent auction on August 13, 12:30-3:30 pm in Calumet. You can also participate in the silent auction online.

I almost stepped on one of these this morning as I walked to the car to come to work. Surprised the heck out of me. Poor thing was probably looking for a nice cool place to hide in.

Green frog on the left and leopard on the right? I'm terrible with frog ID although I enjoy watching the handful in my small pond. Love their voices in the spring and on rainy summer nights.
