Those pics of Central on the main page are fascinating -- as
are the comments of people who used to live in what must seem
now as almost a ghost town. The pics remind me of several I
saw back in June of Cedar River which is a nothing place (only a
bar and a boat access site on the river leading to Green Bay (the
body of watern, not the city) midway between Esky and
Menominee on M-35. Those pics showed the bustling lumber
mill town of Cedar River as it was back in the early 20th Century.
I was astonished to see that there was actually quite a town
there once - much like Central, I suppose. I asked a reporter
from the Menominee newspaper what happened to all the
houses. From talking to a few survivors from the town, she
gathered that speculators came through once the mill closed
and bought many of the houses to raze for their lumber value.
By the way, that bar in Cedar River was very special some years
back because of the mynah bird who lived there. My, how that
bird could talk!

Are there any carpet weavers out there? Drop me a line. I'd really like to meet someone who has the same hobbies as I do. Sincerely; Steve Dollar
