Hope all is well in the CC. Today is the 1st day I am posting since July 3 since undergoing testing and subsequently recovering from heart surgery. I have greatly missed my daily fix of reading all of your posts and viewing the wonderful pics submitted daily. Being that I am still on this side of the grass my appreciation for this great site has grown expotetnially. Thank you Pasty Central, (Charlie, Mary, Toivo,et al) Hopefully by Labor Day wknd I am well enough to journey to the HUT. Enjoy the day everyone.

I was going to mention that too Roudy. Sure would be a heavy craft if stainless and expensive.

If anyone is interested in giving some of the area kids a good start this school year, the Dept. of Human Services has initiated a program called "Backpacks for Kids". They're looking for folks to donate NEW backpacks and school supplies [pencils, pencil boxes, crayons, paper, notebooks-whatever] for 300 needy children in the Houghton, Keweenaw and Baraga counties. If you can help out, the backpacks and/or supplies can be dropped off at the Houghton Dept. of Human Services (formerly known as Family Independence Agency), located at 200 Quincy St., Hancock, MI.
While they prefer drop-off of the items, so they don't have a big undertaking with shopping themselves, they'll also accept donations for the program, which can be mailed to:

One more week! My husband and I are coming up to Copper Harbor for our second honeymoon(married 20 years) and also my birthday. I want to do as much as I possibly can in the six days we will be there. So much to see. I can hardly wait. Will the bugs be bad? My husband wants to know how the fishing is on the inland lakes.

Hmmmmm, second honeymoon, and he wants to go fishing?????? ;)

What are you trying to do to me? Put me on Prozac? I get the shivers just thinking that winter is around the corner. :) I am not ready for the white stuff yet. I could get started on some shopping tho :)

We both enjoy fishing. We went fishing every Sunday after church when we were dating. I grew up fishing with my dad. We'll still have time for second honeymooning.

Lorelei, It is amazing just how fast this year is going! July has one week left to it.

I know, the summer is flying by. All of us yoopers have to soak in as much sun as we can before the days become shorter, cooler and loose all their color. Oh well, winter is beautiful here too, just too darn long. Thank goodness someone invented snowshoes!!!!!

Good luck to you Randall- my villan was cancer surgery on 6/30- sure took the wind out of my summer in the Keweenaw. They get one more wack at me so I hope to be back in Sept-nice to be on this side of the grass- isn't it!!!!!!!!
