Lorelei: I can't believe I missed you! I was so looking forward to meeting you. Since they moved our location from the hot side of the building to out under the trees, it wasn't so bad after all. We had lots of fun on the vacation and spent Sunday in the Keweenaw. Tried to cram everything we could into that day for my 25-year-old dtr. (who hadn't been UP since high school) and the 4-yr.-old granddaughter, who had never been UP. So it was a kid-oriented vacation, and we did NOT do the Harbor Haus. Chutes and Ladders in Houghton was a priority, and also the beach there. Went to the Brockways (the gift shop there was the priority, and also Indian Village in St. Ignace). She had fun at Jacob's Falls, Powerhouse Falls and Scott Falls (where a frog hopped on her foot!). The drive home was not good, as we hit a very bad storm around West Branch. Our wipers went kaflooey (that's a mechanical term), so we had to drive wiperless in the driving rain on the expressway 'til Standish. Got off the expressway at Bay City and waited for a long train carrying toxic chemicals from Dow in the lightening storm. Then we were on M-15 out of the city and it was pitch black because all traffic lights had ceased to work, when the wipers went kaflooey again! So Gary had to fix them again in the rain, in the dark, and try to find our way back on the road around the medians. Almost home when we saw a house ablaze, probably struck by lightening, and that made our problems seem trivial.

Marsha,
Sorry you had such a bad trip home. I thought the placement of the bean soup was much better than in years past. Boy, sounds like you sure hit alot of places Sunday. Chutes and Ladders is a favorite for all kids visiting.
Hope to see you next year at the jamboree. If you are not at the soup pot, I will hunt you down somehow.

The Pictured Rocks tour was really fun.The scenery is beautiful and the running commentary both funny and informative.
