The majority of visitors to the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Munising get their views from land. Some take to the tour boats to get a look from the water. Then there are folks like Nate Alwine who venture out in kayaks to have a look. These are all shots from the rock formations called Cathedral Caverns. After viewing the second shot, you can see where the name comes from--with towering ceilings and cavernous openings. When you can get right inside the formations, you get to enjoy the beauty nature has created in and around the waters of Lake Superior.

Amazing, you can almost hear the small water motions in the final picture in the isolation.

The Pictured Rocks pictures were wonderful, Eddyfitz! I heard that about Miner's Castle, too, Carol.

Yep!! Part of the Castle fell in this spring. One too many freeze/thaw cycles got the best of the sandstone. There is still a castle there, it's just not as big as it used to be.....
Great pics Nate!! There are some nice geologic structures in that second shot.....

The tour of the Pictured Rocks is beautiful. It is relaxing and enables us who can no longer make the trip, still enjoy the beauty of the UP. Thanks Eddyfitz

Thanks Nate for all your research and traveling the cool waters at Pictured Rocks. Your comments and discription of the different areas makes one feel they are right there.

Beautiful pictures!! Does anyone know why the bridge cam is not working and stuck on June 21st?
There's a technical difficulty with the camera having to do with the computer running it. It's in the process of being replaced, so we ask for your patience!
