I am feeling a little melancholy tonight and thinking back. I thought I'd say good night with the words that go with Taps. Many folks don't know there are words, but here they are. This is the last bugle call played at night in the Army, and is very haunting and moving. Many nights I heard this at Ft. Hood. Going into the Fourth, it just seems appropriate.
"Day is done. Gone the sun, From the lake, From the hill, From the sky. All is well, Safely rest, God is nigh.
Thanks and praise, For our days 'Neath the sun, 'Neath the stars, 'Neath the sky. As we go, This we know: God is nigh."
Good night all.
