One of the few shots I took in the early days of the Pasty Cam... Jonathan had provided most of the daily views on this relatively new feature, but I happened to see the next door neighbors taking down this beautiful old pine, and the camera happened to be at hand. We miss the shade.

Any takers on our PastyFest 2006 Poetry Contest? The winner will be announced in Aggasiz Park on July 1, and you need not be present to win. First prize is a third of a dozen fresh, hot pasties from Pasty Central Express, which will have an open house the afternoon of July 1. Put on your literary thinking cap and give it a shot!

How do you intend to notify the winners?

RD, everyone who posts messages on Cam Notes has registered with a valid email address. Even though this address may not appear on the profile link, we still have it on file. So the winning entry will hear from us by email, assuming it is still a valid account.

Never been a very good poet I'm afraid. Sounds like fun though. Do you post them on this site or send them in?

Wish we were going to be up there then, but we'll be passing through July 20th or so.

I have never written a limerick, but maybe I'll
give it a try.

Wish I could be there, but I can't--missing it by
just a day!

I used to write poetry years ago...will have to give the Pasty Poetry Contest a try.

28 days until I'm in Michigan...and it is starting to look promising for the UP :) Yeeeeeeeeee haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw!

I could never eat a third of a dozen pasties. Can you just make it four instead?

Wait a minute now Richard, you just may be "short Pastying" yourself,(versus "short changing", in case you're wondering...) by asking to make it four instead. What if it's a "baker's dozen?" :->

By Mary Lou Curtin (Marylou) on Monday, June 12, 2006 - 12:27 pm:

Hi Richard (may I still call you Rick??)....Good to see your comments here in the UP ...if I win the limerick contest I will share my pasties with you......hope to see you back at Quincy one of these days.......I think we need you here.....

By JanieT (Bobbysgirl) on Monday, June 12, 2006 - 01:09 pm:

Where's Mikie today? It's unsual not to hear from him.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Monday, June 12, 2006 - 01:15 pm:

Lol, I hate it when people "short-pasty" me!! I guess if its a third of a baker's dozen of pasties, you can just cut the odd pasty into thirds, leaving you with 4 1/3 pasties. But then that begs the question of who gets the other two-thirds??

By James Ludos (Homesick) on Monday, June 12, 2006 - 01:41 pm:

Charlie,

I'm not sure you can help, but I was wondering how to get to Toivo and Eino's web site. I was watching the contest on storys about their sauce but I don't seem to be able to get to it by clicking on there link. I was wondering if anyone won it yet.

Thanks
James

Sure, here is the link Stories and here is one for the Recipes from UPOriginal.com Home of Toivo and Eino's Really Secret Pasty Sauce and Fudgie Pasties.
Hope this helps, Daryl

James: I don't know if this will help you get to the contest directly, but it will get you to the site. Good luck!
