To get out on the lake when it's calm and quiet, you have to get up bright and early like John Sturos did recently, in the Bootjack area. He chronicled the adventure from start to finish, beginning with readying the gear and boat in the first shot. Then setting out on the still waters with a ripple every so often and the morning haze still hanging around the shores. And finally a shot of the reward you get for all your extra efforts! Of course add in that peacefulness, while waiting for the fish to bite and you've pretty much been part of a priceless day!

Mary, what perfect pictures. This weekend is free fishing weekend in Michigan.

The days I dream of, some year time will allow it.

Wow, I sure do miss fishing those waters between Torch and Portage Lakes. Some of the best fishing up there, partly because you never knew what you had on the other end until you got it close to the boat.

Dang John, why didn't you call me to join you? Now that's what I call a perfect day :)

By JohnS (Jksturos) on Friday, June 9, 2006 - 03:47 pm:

I'll call you next time, WishinIWasInDaUP. It definitely was a perfect start to the day. I have to clarify that the fish was too small to keep, so it was released. Although, it was a joy reeling it in!

Cool pictures, makes me want to head out to the camp. Can't wait to spend time out there on beautiful sunny days.

By Ms. Katie (Mskatie) on Friday, June 9, 2006 - 05:20 pm:

Hey John you tell a nice story in pictures. No human in sight but you know what's happening. Very well done. I'm not a fisherperson, I would throw them all back. Such a peaceful time.

I know you guys don't need to be reminded of what a paradise the UP is.
That is a dream day in pictures.

Always Fun to catch a Northern (Big or Small:)

I'm wondering if this is a photo of Rice Lake? Back around 1975 I caught a tiger-muskie in there that was as long as my leg!

I'd guess Torch Lake...

By JohnS (Jksturos) on Monday, June 12, 2006 - 09:51 am:

Susan and lonesome yooper,
in case you're still wondering which lake it is - it's Portage Lake on the Bootjack side (approx 5 miles south of Dreamland).
