Happy Mother's Day to all mothers today. I am spending Mother's Day with my daughter Kim ( my baby)who is expecting her first baby in October. So this is her first Mother's Day. We gave her her "mother to be" card today. I went to her ultrasound on Friday & it's amazing what you can find out. Dr said the baby is great! The heart, kidneys, bones, brain, everything are fine. We saw her little profile of her face & also that she is definitiely a GIRL!! She was moving & putting her little hand up to her eyes. It was so great to see her little body & hear her heart beating. The marvels go technology. When I had my children, you didn't know what sex they were or if they were healthy or not. You just waited those nine months & found out. They can do so much now. So I am having an extra special Happy Mother's Day. It's great to be a Mother & Grandmother.
Mikie- you're right. It's great to be a grandparent.

Hi Cotton, We figured that once you said she had a brain that she definitely had to be a girl! Sorry all you guys out there but you know it's true. lol Congratulations on becoming a grandma. There is NO better feeling in the world. It's even better than having your own kids. They're your reward for putting up with them all those years.

Hey Tim, See you finally got on here. Thanks for the Mother's Day wishes and maybe I'll see you on here more often now that you've figured it out. (Or did Sue, the female, therefore the brains of the operation. Just kidding.)

By Fran in GA (Francesinga) on Sunday, May 14, 2006 - 08:39 pm:

I hope all of you Mother's had a great day! It was a cool and windy day and I just took it easy:)

By Cotton (Cotton) on Sunday, May 14, 2006 - 10:36 pm:

Mike- The service was soleumn but very nice. The church was full but not overflowing like the November services. Everyone was able to have a seat. The songs & the choir were just beautiful. They also had a woman play the bagpipes. They played the Mariner's Hymn which always brings a few tears to my eyes. Our flower arrangement from the Fitzgerald families was very pretty. We had a small bell with twenty nine red roses (for our 29 men), one white rose (signifying Bishop Ingalls) with pretty leaves & greenery behind it. I took a picture of it.I think Bishop Ingalls would have liked that. After the service there was a buffet at the Courtyard for all of us. He will certainly be missed, he was such a well liked & respected man.
How was Precious' day today? What did you cook for her? Not stew!LOL I know you made it special for her. Your turn is next month. What's your desire? You got plenty of time to think about it.
On a sorrowful note, they are burying Paul Averitt next Thursday. I'll be there.

Cotton, Paul and I were born one month apart and had a special kinship, even though we did not see each other a lot in our lives. The bad part of sharing dna is that we both suffered from the same problems. When ever we did see each other we would compare our problems and as you know Paul had a great sense of humor, or at least he did when we were young. Please pass on my condolonse to his family. Precious did the cooking and I did the preparing and we did have a stew of sorts, we had beef stroganoff, with green beens, a huge fruit bowl, this was for the grandkids, and my daughter Dani, made a birthday cake for me, a snickerdoodle cake. Had a great time. How was your visit with the soon to be mother? My grandson Joe Ozanich took his first steps on my birthday. That was his gift to me. Dani and family gave me a new frypan since we got a new stove with a glass top the old ones would scratch the top. Precious threw out the favorite one that I had since I was single. Can't sleep but guess I will try again.

Cotton,

Thank you for that beautiful description of the
funeral service on Saturday. A lot of us were
thinking about it, I'm sure. The bouquet from
the Fitzgerald families sounded truly inspired.
