Little did we know in May of 1998 that the temporary disorder on Fifth Street in Calumet would eventually come together into an award-winning masterpiece. Latter that year the street was honored with the ASCE Historic Civil Engineering Landmark Award. Then in 2003 Main Street Calumet was actually named the 'Person of the Year' in a ceremony which included honors for Pasty Central and Pasty.NET.
The town and its people are still making history, as we prepare for the third annual Pasty Fest, less than 2 months away. As in years past, we hope to meet many of our website friends and treat them to a free pasty in Aggasiz park around lunch time on July 1. That's a Saturday, in fact only 8 weeks from today! The parade will come right down the cobblestone street in today's blast from the past :o)
Only 2 weeks from today is another event you will want to attend if you are in the area... A night of music at Calumet Theatre, featuring many of our local musician friends who perform at Still Waters. It's a benefit concert for this Home for the Aged, which has only been able to continue over the years because of the generous support of area residents and businesses. Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 20, from 7-9 pm at the historic Calumet Theatre. Admission is $8, and all proceeds go to Still Waters Assisted Living Community.
