A regular ritual each spring, putting out the signs which had been stored away every winter. The disappearance of the snow back in 1998 was about the same as it has been this year. But some years we have had enough on the ground to ride snowmobiles right up to Mother's Day.
Pasty.NET sure could have used a bucket truck like this the past few years. Recently we did purchase such a vehicle, and you may see John Schneiderhan riding around the Keweenaw with it. Sure makes the roof/tower work easier to reach. I'm referring of course to the receivers and access points which continue to be implemented here in the U.P. to bring high-speed Internet access to even the most remote locations.
Tomorrow morning at 10am up on Brockway Mountain we will be switching over from wind to solar power for the summer, for the broadband relay station at the gift shop. This is an important outpost for bringing the signal to many Pasty.NET members, including yours truly. The words you are now reading have actually come to you by way of Brockway Mountain. (quite a flight!)
