What a potpourri from the U.P. the Pasty Cam has become over the years! Following the links "This week in years past" on the main page takes you to every extreme of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, from east to west and north to south. Eight years ago I stood on Swedetown Hill enjoying the view toward the Osceola shaft house, and I believe the Huron Mountains in the distance. Last night my wife and I visited one of those extremes, namely Ironwood, to attend the Junior ROTC awards, where Edie presented Christa Baron with a medal of recognition from the Daughters of the American Revolution. At the end of the ceremony Christa was also named Commander of the group for the coming year.
As you make your plans to visit the U.P. this summer, be sure to include a stop in Calumet on July 1st for PastyFest, which will include a parade, pasty bake-off competition, music, and games for the kids. You'll meet other pasty lovers from all over the country (and maybe some from other countries.)
