It wasn't long after we published the picture of the stone boat in Kearsarge that we received a request for the one in Centennial Heights. You may recall back in 1998 there were very few pictures of the U.P. on the web, and the idea of a daily view from Northern Michigan was brand new, and began to receive quite a few requests.
As we approached the third month of the Pasty Cam (8 years ago), it was a time of rapid growth in the number of visitors to the website. This was due mainly to the article published first by the Detroit Free Press concerning the Pasty project, which was picked up by dozens of newspapers around the country. This triggered requests for more information from several radio stations. Eventually Midwest Living and Lake Superior Magazine featured this web project preserving the heritage of the Copper Country, born at a Home for the Aged in Calumet.
