Thunder and rain in Wiscinsin this morning. We'll have green grass soon.

by the way, that's Wisconsin.

Forgot to mention the other day...How about them Badgers?
Won the NCAA men's and women's hockey championship.

I was at the game between Wisconsin and Cornell in Green Bay. 3 overtimes tied 0-0. Wisconsin won of course...that was one of the most tense games I have ever seen in my life. It was awesome.

My gosh! Everybody's up so early this morning. Yeah Dave, once UND was eliminated we were going for Wisconsin too. Was happy they won but wanted UND to win. My son attends college there, but I've been a UND fan for as long as I can remember anyway. Nice to know you like hockey. My husband gets the hockey package every year through Directv and EVERY night he watches hockey. That's too much for me. Anyway, go Badgers! You were lucky to be there. I went to watch UND in (I think it was late 70's or early 80's) when they won the championship. Those were some GREAT games to watch.

Deb S -- It was 1980 and UND beat the NMU Wildcats in Providence. That was the year that Minnesota's Herb Brooks guided the US Olympic team to a Gold Medal and National Television wanted his Gofers to be in the final four instead of an upstart NMU, so they were able to arrange for Northern to play an extra qualifying game AT MINNESOTA, the week before. Unfortunately for TV Ratings, the Wildcats won that game! It was sort of like this year having George Mason go to the Basketball final four.

deb s, i attend UND, after watching the ncaa final game, wisconsin should have won that game about 5 or 6 to 1, boston college was absolutely horrible, i still cant figure out how they beat the Sioux with the exception that the Sioux must have just choked...would have been nice to see two WCHA teams battling for the championship again

Since there is an early morning award, I think there should be a late night award for those of us who never get up early and are night owls.

Championship for both the Men & Womens hockey teams, and they "were lucky to be there". Now isn't that just like some people........

BORN A LUTHERAN

Eino--a Finlander from Baraga County in northern Michigan-- was an older, single gentleman who was born and raised a Lutheran. Each Friday night after work, he would fire up his outdoor grill and cook a venison steak.

Now, all of Eino's neighbors were Catholic..... and since it was Lent, they were forbidden from eating meat on ridays. The delicious aroma from the grilled venison steaks was causing such a problem for the Catholic faithful that they finally talked to their priest.

The priest came to visit Eino, and suggested that Eino convert to Catholicism. After several classes and much study, Eino attended Mass..... and as the priest sprinkled holy water over Eino, he said, "You were born a Lutheran and raised a Lutheran, but now you are Catholic." Eino's neighbors were greatly relieved, until Friday night arrived, and the wonderful aroma of grilled venison filled the neighborhood. The priest was called immediately by the neighbors and, as he rushed into Eino's yard, clutching a rosary and prepared to scold Eino, he stopped in amazement and watched......

There stood Eino, clutching a small bottle of water which he carefully sprinkled over the grilling meat, and chanted: "You were born a deer, and raised a deer, but now you are a walleye".

Hey, Mikie, you can be early bird if you stay up late enough. That's how I do it. :-)

I agree DebS, I was hoping UND would go all the way, but I'm very happy to see the badgers win it as well; keep the championship in the WCHA for the 5th year in a row!! It would have made for an interesting final though, Sioux/Badgers. My wife is a diehard Bucky fan, so I may have had to make dinner a few nights after that one ;-)

Speaking of the Sioux, anyone know if the NCAA is still planning on forcing them to change the mascot?? It would be a shame for UND to give up the Fighting Sioux for a more PC one......

to a Lutheran audience--I'm not sure anyone would get
it. I never here anyone talk about going fishing here.

Notice that our Catholics and Lutherans are up early each Sunday...
You have to get to church pretty early to get a good back seat!

the churches should charge to sit in the back of the church again didn't they used to charge a dime to sit in the back of the church.

Robert, I have tried to stay up later but fall asleep about two every morning.I arose at 4:30 everyday for forty years and will never be a morning person again. Mornings should start about eleven a.m.

Jarmo, what interesting, beautiful buildings. Altho I don't understand a single word of the text I appreciate the different architecture. The 8th photo shows a building that resembles a TALL pop can with a straw heh? Thank you for all the neat photos you post.

another by the way...Robbie Earl is staying in Wisconsin for his senior year. Watch out for the hockey badgers again next year.

Capt. Paul & Dr. Nat, My son said they're still trying to get them to change the Sioux name. If they did, they'd have to get a whole new arena because Ralph Englestadt said they couldn't use it if the nsme was changed. That would cost big time. I think it's so silly. They've always been the Fighting Sioux. What's wrong with that?

Derek, I agree. The Sioux shouldn't have had a problem with BC. I heard the defense broke down. Wish I could have been there. My cousin got to go and see the Final women's game I believe. What fun that would be. I've attended the Sioux games when they won the championship. I had a blast! Gino was a great coach. I wanted an all WCHA showdown too. I think they fixed it good this year so that all four teams couldn't be in the Frozen Four like last year. Now THAT was great!

Don, I should read these posts all at once and answer them all at once but I'm not that smart. Yeah, 1980 was a great year, wasn't it? It was good for hockey anyway. George Mason, now there was a shock! I was happy to see them go as far as they did once they beat the Spartans. I LOVE the Spartans. Funny I didn't remember that UND beat Northern Michigan since I'm from Michigan. Oh well, it was a good outcome anyway.

Kosk, When my kids were young I took them to church every Sunday and sat in the first pew. They also knew the priest because they came to our house. I was always telling my son to be quiet in Gods house. So the pastor came over to our house and Justin greets him at the door by saying "Hi God, I am Justin and I see you at your house on Sundays". Really made a rather proud priest, humble.
