Ahhh... the first sunset on the Pasty Cam. Experimenting with the Mavica, Jonathan wasn't sure it would turn out, as he stepped back into the garden area at Still Waters for the view over the new pavilion. The colors and detail aren't quite as rich as today's megapixel cameras, but it was enough to give the idea, and the email comments began to stream in as people discovered this new daily feature.
And on this day in 1998 another new (almost daily) feature began: Past-E-Mail - letters from website visitors and pasty purchasers. To read March 1998 Pasty-E-Mail, follow the link and scroll to the bottom of the page, reading backwards from the beginning.
Ultimately sunsets on the Pasty Cam would take on a new meaning in later years. Someone on the Past-E-Mail discussion board suggested that we have a memorial at the end of each month, honoring the names of those which had come to the end of life's day. Jonathan captured some beautiful sunsets in those early days, and hundreds of other photo contributors would provide even more in the guest gallery in subsequent years.
