Good morning everyone...and welcome to the start of the weekend. Yaaaaahoooooooo! Finally, we are getting somewhat of a taste of winter...a little dusting of snow on the ground...and temps in the 20's. Goodbye rain...finally :)

By Lorelei (Lorelei) on Friday, February 17, 2006 - 10:46 am:

Sur5er, Ya still enjoying your daughter's company? If so, enjoy. It is 9 degrees here today. Brrrrrr. I doubt I will be snowshoeing this weekend.

Are the Dog Sled Races tomorrow in Marquette?

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Friday, February 17, 2006 - 02:59 pm:

Lorelei, Yep...I'm still enjoying having my daughter home. I haven't accomplished much of anything, this first week...just taking a break from everything to enjoy kicking around with my daughter. Will have to get back into the work groove come Monday though. Sigh.

The WHITE OUT is just making it from Houghton, out to Bete Grise. As the song titles says, it's going to be a three dog night!

By dlp (Babyseal) on Friday, February 17, 2006 - 03:31 pm:

Nate, this is from the Marquette Mining Journal:
U.P. 200 starts downtown tonight; Ready to rumble
So I guess the answer is yes.

By Kelly Marshall (Kelly) on Friday, February 17, 2006 - 03:42 pm:

A gen-U-ine Blizzard warning is effect for Houghton and Keweenaw counties. Wind chills to -35° tonight with whiteout conditions;making travel near impossible. Glad I have three dogs !

Yikes, Kelly and Mr. Bill...sounds like a great night for cuddling up next to the fire, with a book and a cup of hot cocoa, eh. I just checked the Mackinaw Bridge site...and they are having high winds, to the point that high profile vehicles can only cross with an escort. All you can see in the bridge cam, is snow flying all over the place.

Just exercized the Erskine 2000 snowblower. There's a lot of powder out there!

By Kelly Marshall (Kelly) on Friday, February 17, 2006 - 08:22 pm:

I shoveled my path and within an hour it is buried even deeper. It is a losing battle so I will not bother with it again until tomorrow. It is exactly 0° The wind is howling and the furnace seems to never stop running. Yes...A good book and a cup of cocoa...Now how does that book start? "It was a dark and stormy night......"

By Mr. Bill (Mrbill) on Friday, February 17, 2006 - 08:50 pm:

Kelly,

You won't believe it but I just recieved an awaited book from Amazon today, and just in time! A fire in the fireplace and some classical "toons" playing; Life, as good as it gets!

By Beverly, San Jose (Beverly) on Friday, February 17, 2006 - 09:07 pm:

Well sur5er and Kelly...it certainly is a dark and stormy night here. We actually got snow here in San Jose and all the lower foothills. Down to 2000 feet. Mt. Hamilton is white with snow. Only my book is an exciting spy mystery that has me chewing my nails, and my drink of choice is a nice glass of wine as I never did care for cocoa while I sit and read. I guess all that warm weather we were having was to good to last. Have a great weekend everyone.

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Friday, February 17, 2006 - 10:23 pm:

Brrrrrr...temps tonight will be around zero...and down to about -20 degrees tomorrow, with the wind. Getting ready to cuddle up on the sofa with a book for my online writing course, and a mug of hazzlenut coffee. I agree with Mr. Bill...life just doesn't get any better than this.

Beverly, Great to see that you are starting to feel better :)
(((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))

Kelly: "...as the howling gusts of wind forced waves from the great lake to crash angrily onto the shore..."

By Beverly, San Jose (Beverly) on Friday, February 17, 2006 - 11:11 pm:

Thank you for careing sur5er. It has been a long recovery and my legs are slowly responding to therapy and treatment so I am able to stand and take a few steps at a time. With the use of an aid I can walk a short distance. :) My big test comes in March...which I cannot worry about now what may or may not be. I just need to worry about the here and now.
And how are you? I read that you are enjoying the cold and snow. If weather patterns are usually predictable, it should take about 3 days for this storm on the West Coast to reach the Central States. So E N J O Y.

By Beverly, San Jose (Beverly) on Friday, February 17, 2006 - 11:42 pm:

With the beginnings of a new and exciting novel co-authored by Kelly and sur5er, perhaps there are other writers that may want to contribute on the PastyCam to this book in progress. Would like to see how it turns out. Who knows, it could be a best seller. :))))))
