We're once again feeling the cold bite of winter here in the U.P., a far cry from the spring-like weather we experienced just a couple weeks back, when Joyce Tormala snapped these two shots. Funny how that "cap" of snow accumulated on the exposed end of tree trunk like that. I suppose the frigid waters may be acting like natural refrigeration to preserve it there. It's been an unusual winter here for sure, with balmy temperatures and sunshine one week, then Mother Nature zaps us back to the reality of winter with chilling temperatures and flurries of snow the next! All part of the unique life you lead living in the beautiful North Country.
I woke up this morning, looking out at a big expanse of water, but it's many miles from Lake Superior. We'll be taking a break from the road for a few days staying in Myrtle Beach, SC. So, while I'm writing the notes, I'll try to send a bit of the warmer weather north, for you folks back home in the U.P. :->

Amazing what kind of shapes the water and wind can make. Neat pictures!

Time for a very serious question. Does someone know the date of this year's Trenary Outhouse Classic? Good article about the event in Sunday's Detroit Free Press, but not sure if it has occurred or is about to. Sure sounds like a happening. I'm sure we would appreciate photos from any attendees. Mary,I hope it is warmer in Myrtle Beach than it is in the Chattanooga area.It is cold and damp today.
Hey, Fran...it's cool and damp here today too, but we're Yoopers and we made the best of it, going for a two hour walk, finding a few sharks teeth and now we're headed to the sauna and "lazy river" in the hotel! :->

The Trenary Outhouse Classic...I read about this in the Freep on Sunday. It also came with a web site I found to be very interesting. John Loose takes the pictures at this Outhouse Classic. Check out the site http://jldr.com/index.html

Japei, I commend you on your good sportsmanship. Didn't the USA beat out Finland for the bronze medal? Good sportsmanship is hard to come by these days. You're great!
