This is my kind of winter activity - - anything that involves a man (woman), a motor and hurling something through the air, is entertainment! Peg Hardt captured this gent while he's intent on moving a driveway full of snow, throwing it out of his way. He'd have been able to make quick work of that job if he had the mega-blower that E. Neil Harri spotted at the Houghton County Airport on one of his recent trips. Now that's a real man's snow thrower!

I have a belated Groundhog's Day tidbit to share. My neighbor has a unique tool he uses to determine the length of the snowy season we have left, come Feb. 2nd. The third picture is his lawnmower out in the yard and he swears if you can see the shadow of the handle, there's six more weeks to go. I'm not seeing one in this shot, so it looks like we're in for an early spring! But then again, I hear the old groundhog saw his shadow, so it's six more weeks to go, which takes us to the middle of March and winter is finished. Now that would actually be a bit early here UP North!

Is there a name for that giant snow blower,I thought they might be called a sno-go or somthing like that?

Regarding the lawn mower theory of predicting spring. I say that if the lawn mower handle is showing through the snow...period...especially in da UP...that is evidence enough that spring is around the corner ;)

Good afternoon from Mishawaka IN. I sure like that Big Boy Toy. We might be able to use it here tomorrow. We are in a Winter Weather Advisory until tomorrow morning. Snow and possible 30MPH winds. Sur5er, let me know when you see it coming across the lake, ok? I'll get my snow shovel ready.

Greetings from Columbus, Ohio. We are under a winter storm warning----4-6" of snow predicted. That's just a dusting for the Copper Country. These city folks don't know what a real winter is like.!!! Loved the picture of the "sno-go" was afraid of that machine when I was younger. It piled snow in the west end of Hancock and we played on the man made hill with our sleds. I have pictures of the "smooth cuts" it made and the banks got real high.!!Great memories.

A howling wind here in Toronto. Accompanied
by rain and some snow. We're expecting
snow overnight though.

Tomorrow we're having a Super Bowl party.
Our son is at Fort Lewis, but all of his buddies
and some of our friends are coming too. I'm
backing Seattle. Not just cause it's near
Seattle (near where our son is stationed) but
because Holmgren used to coach the
Packers. Go Sea Hawks Go!

To show you we don't give up hope for the UP, we have a snowblower.
