Mskatie, 'Whitchamacallits' and 'thingamajigs' are definitely widely used here. At least in the Houghton/Keweenaw area. :) I call Yooper's 'whitchamacallits' animations.

Ms.Katie: I agree...'whatchamacallit' and 'thingamajig' must be Michigan phrases, because they aren't used very widely, here in Indiana. Whenever I use those terms, people give me that puzzled look...or chuckle at it.
Question: is the term 'goandfetchers' a Michigan term? Nope...they aren't familiar with that term out here either. You know...goandfetchers...those thingamajigs that you use to fetch the hotdogs off the grill.
