Great picture from Mackinac. Of course, it'd be better to go there in the summer.

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 - 11:05 am:

Good morning everyone :) Now that is one thing I have always wanted to do...visit Mackinac Island in the winter...without all the hussel and bussel of the summer crowds.

Could someone tell us about the fire on Second Street in Eagle Harbor?

I have noticed for quite a while now that the BridgeCam's time stamp is typically ahead (?) of Eastern Standard Time, currently by 40 minutes. If memory serves, the difference has been increasing over the past several months -- the last time I checked the difference was about 20 minutes.

Example: The following image ...

BridgeCam 1-25-2006 12:59

... showing a time stamp as reads 1/25/2006 12:59 first appeared at 12:19AM EST today (time from http://www.time.gov)

How so? Is Daryl's computer clock not sync'd to a time server? Or is there a little unique mini-time zone in East Hancock?
J

The clock has been off since the last time change for daylight savings. It's not as simple as changing the computer's time, the software that runs the computer has to be rewritten. We have to get Charlie here to reprogram it. One of these days...

Thanks for pointing it out.
Daryl

Good Afternoon Everyone,
Hey Trigal, have you broken trail on your snowshoes with all this new snow? If so, let us know how it was.

By Debra J McCumber (Debrajean) on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 - 03:04 pm:

Hello everyone - especially you Mr. Brock! : )

By happyooper (Trigal) on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 - 03:51 pm:

Lorelei,
I haven't been out since last Friday. Hopefully we'll get out there tonight, see if the fluff makes the heavy snow bearable! I'll let you know tomorrow.

By happyooper (Trigal) on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 - 03:55 pm:

Lorelei again-
You the one that skis/snowshoes between Trimountain and Painesdale?

By Lorelei (Lorelei) on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 - 04:41 pm:

Trigal,
Hubby and I snowshoe behind Painesdale several times a week. He went today and really had a work out. We have several loops to keep things interesting.

By happyooper (Trigal) on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 - 04:44 pm:

Lorelei,
We see tracks all over out there, probably yours! Maybe we'll meet someday. :)

By Lorelei (Lorelei) on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 - 05:01 pm:

That would be so cool. The only things we ever meet are snomobilers. Never ran into anyone on the trails. Happy shoeing ;)

By Seismic Pirate (Marc) on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 - 06:45 pm:

Lorelei, Trigal,
Where do you snowshoe behind Painesdale? North or South of Kearsarge? I live on the South Side, would like to stay off the Snowmobile trail, but really don't want to tackle the steep slopes behind Seeberville... I'm looking forward to getting off my ship, soon and hitting the woods but I would like a nice flat patch of woods for starters, at least.

By dlp (Babyseal) on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 - 06:51 pm:

Seismic Pirate,
Have you tried the loop behind the high school, towards the "pond" area?

By Seismic Pirate (Marc) on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 - 08:04 pm:

No, I didn't think of that one. I walked it a year or so ago. That is a perfect starter-thanks!
