Good morning from Mishawaka IN.
First Post

Good Morining! Weather sounds pretty rotten down by Lansing!

By Erica - Florida Keys (Erica) on Saturday, January 7, 2006 - 11:07 am:

Good morning from the Florida Keys. It is a little chilly today. We woke up to 53 degrees and a strong wind out of the north--but it is a nice change.

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Saturday, January 7, 2006 - 11:46 am:

Close PWEED! When your No. 2 you try harder. We have enough ice formations on the roads this forenoon! Maybe next summer I will appreciate the pretty ice formations more.

By dlp (Babyseal) on Saturday, January 7, 2006 - 12:17 pm:

Good afternoon from cloudy Painesdale. Every time I see one of those snow thermometers, I think we should have one here in Painesdale, right next to Champion #4 shafthouse. Who can I get do one up for us?

By Charlotte, Mishawaka, IN (Charlotte61) on Saturday, January 7, 2006 - 01:40 pm:

Good afternoon from Mishawaka, IN. Another cloudy, gray day. The snow dance certainly didn't work here. Our chances of snow for the next week don't sound to good. Keep up dancing.

By eugenia r. thompson (Ert) on Saturday, January 7, 2006 - 01:54 pm:

Someone please let us know how Hilarie and Callie are doing.......

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Saturday, January 7, 2006 - 02:34 pm:

Charlotte, Perhaps if everyone in da UP did the snow dance at the same time, it would create a northerly wind for us, here in Indiana...and thus bring us some of their snow?
What started out as a great snow covered winter, sure has turned into a bust here, eh. :( Heck, the grass is turning green...there are new red branches on the trees...along with buds on the trees. Even mother nature is thinking spring around here...and not winter. Sigh.

Nate, hoping that everything is improving with Callie and Hilarie...and that you are taking care of yourself. Please keep us posted.

Sounds like a great idea, Sur5er. So start dancing Yoopers. We need your help. My flowers are starting to come up. Not good.

If I take a flame thrower to my snowbanks do you think it would hurt their feelings and they would pack up and go south; where people appreciate them?

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Saturday, January 7, 2006 - 04:58 pm:

Finally, some snow here in Toronto today. Not
much--a couple of inches, but it sure improves
the looks of the city.
.
My husband and I took our dog out to a
conservation area about an hour outside of
Toronto. There was more snow there--maybe
4 inches. There were a couple of folks cross
country skiing. Too bad our skis and
snowshoes are in storage. Better remedy that
quickly!

By Marc Slis (Marc) on Saturday, January 7, 2006 - 06:05 pm:

dlp,
How much snow have we gotten in Painesdale in the last week or two? I've been gone for a month and my wife has been under the bridge for about 1 1/2 weeks. I'm wondering how much snow she's going to find piled in the drive when she returns...

Whitewaves--

I enjoyed the websites. Real artistry.

By dlp (Babyseal) on Saturday, January 7, 2006 - 09:32 pm:

Marc, We received about 8.5 inches on the 31st of Dec, but only 4 inches since. Lots of drizzle inbetween, so it shouldn't be too bad. What part of Painesdale?

By Charlotte, Mishawaka, IN (Charlotte61) on Saturday, January 7, 2006 - 10:47 pm:

Koskintoronto, Thought you might be interested in something that is going to happen in Mishawaka, IN this coming weekend, Jan. 13 and 14. The boys basketball team, boys swim team and girls swim team from Georgetown District High School will be coming to Mishawaka to compete againt the Mishawaka High School Cavemen teams. This is the 3rd year we have had this typoe of event. The first year was in Mishawaka with just the basketball team along with a team from Austraila and Gary,In competing. Last year the Mishawaka boys traveled to Canada. They played Georgetown and Iroquois Ridge. I was lucky engough to get to travel with the team. The regular score bookkeeper stayed in Mishawaka to take care of these duties for the girls team. I am the sub for this job so I got to go. What a neat experience it was not only for the team but for all of the adults who made the trip. We were treated with great kindness. This week it will be great seeing those we meet last year.

DLP,
What PART of Painesdale? Thats funny-we're pretty small, aren't we? Well, maybe bigger than Trimountain, anyway.

I live on Ogima, off Kearsarge, when I'm not bobbing around in some ocean on the wrong side of the world...

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Sunday, January 8, 2006 - 07:51 am:

Charlotte,

I love international competitions. Any chance
we have to meet people from other cultures in
a sense of friendly cameraderie is a bonus.
International understanding on a small scale..

Also, I loved accompanying my kids, when
they were young, to swim and gymnastic
meets. I spent a lot of time sitting behind my
dad on the bench at basketball games in
Lower Michigan when I was a kid. He was a
high school coach.

By dlp (Babyseal) on Sunday, January 8, 2006 - 08:02 pm:

Marc, Painesdale is divided into sections. You are in the "main part" of Painesdale. I am in Seeberville. There is also "E" location, up by the highway from "E" is Snobhill. I did a walking tour map of Painesdale for the Centennial celebration. Learned a lot.
We'll try to keep Painesdale safe until your return. Are you in a branch of the service? Got a nephew in Iraq (almost headed home), One headed there, and one nephew trying to decide whether or not to re-up.

By Marc Slis (Marc) on Monday, January 9, 2006 - 08:54 pm:

dlp,
I forgot about Seeberville and Snobhill and didn't know about "E" location. I used to know a guy over in Seeberville but haven't talked to him in years-one of the Toth's. A guy I knew from Tech owned one of the houses in Snobhill but sold it years ago b4 I moved in.

I actually work in the oil industry. I'm on a seimsic survey vessel, hunting for oil. You can see a picture of my ship in the photo gallery. My albums are still on the first page.

I wish both your nephews good luck! It's a hard life and a tough job right now.

By dlp (Babyseal) on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 - 02:19 pm:

Marc, That guy would be Marty?
Hunting for oil, hope you find some!

By Seismic Pirate (Marc) on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 - 05:00 pm:

dlp,
Yes, I went to Tech w/ Marty back in the 90's.
and yes, we're finding as much as we can...
Can't seem to get enough these days. Hey, do you hunt behind Seeberville, by any chance?

By dlp (Babyseal) on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 - 09:52 pm:

Do I hunt? Nope. But my husband and sons, Marty and his dad also hunt. My son got a 230# deer with 10 points somewhere in that there wilderness this fall. Hunting season the snowmobile trail down here is like a city highway.
Here is my email address in case ya need any more updates: dlpindral@charter.net
