The U.P. boasts a number of cross country ski trails, some groomed, some not, but all of them have a bountiful supply of wondrous sights to behold. Recently, Susan Hooker was out (along with the sunshine) skiing and had some fun spotting a few unusual sights on the trail. These two caught my eye, especially the second shot, when she met up with the trail groomer. I zoomed in closer so you all can have a better look! :-> If you'd like to join Susan on the rest of the ski adventure, check out her slideshow. Seems like this would be a great idea for a scavenger hunt too!

When publishing today's photo's, I thought "Trail Groomer" was an aerial view of some publicity guy for Silver Bear. But then I saw the slideshow, and can't stop laughing :o)
Our thanks to Susan Hooker, who has had some great shots on the Pasty Cam over the years. Hard to believe in about a month we will begin year number nine.

What great pics! Those kinds of things make me wish I still lived around there. Then I remember there is snow from November through April. Kind of makes me shy away from moving back. But at least you can get out and exercise during the winter months there. We never get any good snow to do anything. And I guess I'd take the snow over the bone chilling temps that we sometimes get here in MN.

I've lived here in the nation's capital for 30 years and I still miss Michigan winters. The locals think I'm nuts. I explain that winter is a separate season up there. You get to wear a completely different wardrobe. You can ski, sled, skate, throw snowballs, build snow people and other things, slip and fall down on your behind. Here, all you can do is curse the dank gloom. It was sad to watch my kids learn, as they grew up, that to play in the snow, you have to go out while it's still coming down. I will, however, take a pass on diving through the ice.

Who could not love this UP spirit? Who could not love the clean, cold, beautiful snow? (I know the answer to that, but had to ask!)

Susan, Thanks for my morning chuckle. Loved the 'trail groomer' and the lost flip flop in the snow. ROFL.

I like that little guy. I didn't know they made scoops that small! I need one for my baby girl.

My wife bought a bunch of those little scoops and tied them to the top of the Christmas gifts this year. They are actually ornaments for the Christmas tree. I think she got them at Copper World.
