There's something about a snow covered shed that just sets my heart to pumping. Well, actually even without the jacket of snow, it would catch my eye and tug at my heart. That's because as a young poika I learned a number of life lessons while making many trips in and out of one much like this shack snapped by Roger Ockomon. It was a Saturday tradition for me to help my isoisä with his chores, which of course included several trips to haul the wood for our weekly sauna night.
Speaking of saunas, I'm betting those brave divers will be craving one today after taking the plunge in the Heikinpäivä Polar Bear Dive, today, at 3:00 p.m. in Hancock.

By the way, today is also the monthly Pasty Sale at the VFW post in Calumet, from 10am - 4pm. Stop by and pick up some Pasty Central pasties, hot or frozen. They're right off the snowmobile trail on U.S. 41

Good morning from Mishawaka IN. I love this picture, just because of the snow on the trees and ontop of the roof of the shed. I've only seen that much snow once in my life and that was in 1978. I think we got 24 inches in 24 hours. I hope we can see some of the polar bear dive from the bridge cam today or at least I hope someone gets some good pictures and shares them.

This is what it looks like this morning in Mt. Pleasant. Got here early yesterday afternoon, no snow at all. Woke up this morning to a beautiful winterscape. Glad I don't have to go anywhere today!!!

Good morning! We only got a couple of inches of snow. 5" about 20 miles west of us.

Now, that's what I call real winter snow. None of the sissy stuff they call a 'snow storm' down here ;)

Hope everyone who is participating in the polar dive today, has fun. I still say brrrrrrrrr....

Thanks for the posting of the shed. What a shock it was to see it this morning as I awoke from Anderson, Indiana. I check this page every morning. My father built the shed out of scraps several years ago... He passed away several years ago now and I keep the old shed up in his memory. It's located just out of Munising a few miles on our property UP there.
you can see it from this link via our web cams.

Thanks again....

Roger, Thanks for the link to your webcam in Munising...I now have it listed as one of my favorites, so I can click on it easily. Neat that you keep the shed up in memory of your father ... definately a tribute to the times you shared with him.

Just moments away from the Polar Bear Dive! We are here at Ramada in Hancock, attached to the in-house Pasty.NET Wireless broadband. Here's a picture of Liz Clawson being readied to take the plunge at 3:00pm. Thanks to all of you who made a contribution to Still Waters to be included in Liz's List!

We'll post some scenes of the festivities later!

It was a great day for the plunge today. The sun was shining and all those brave souls who either jumped in or dove into the freezing water! They all had fun from what I saw. I could of never done that!! BRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
