Lake Superior, often referred to as "The Big Lake", is well known for it's force and fury. But she also has a mild mannered side, as Tom Cook captured in these shots. With a covering of unstained snow, the shoreline takes on a different scene... one of quiet and calmness. If a feeling of serenity washes over you while viewing the photos, imagine what actually being there during such a peaceful moment would be like. Ahh...

Wow! Relief! I was really hoping that nothing serious was happening in the UP! Beautiful pics and I now have a new desktop pic.

The pictures are lovely and I am so glad you are back! Now I can get on with the rest of my day knowing things are fine in the UP.

Super pictures. We have snow--not much, but it is snow.

Good evening all! And hello Mary Drew.
Thanks for all your good work on this page.
I was just setting here on a cold dreary night in January in Anderson, INdiana, dreaming of living in UP out on 16 Mile Lake Rd. just out of Munising a few miles...It would make my day to have something from the 16 mile lake area posted for all to enjoy. Ahhhhhhh I can smell the woodstove smoke now in the crisp night UP air.
I'm getting chills thinking of it....(grin)
Have a great evening everyone....
