It would be interesting to know how many times this little church in Phoenix, MI has been photographed, especially this time of year. I know the Church of the Assumption has appeared on these pages plenty of times, but it’s always the perfect, classic photo for Christmas Eve. Today’s shots were snapped by Brita Haapala on a still and beautiful night, near Eagle River. Someone commented that these photos have a Hallmark movie vibe...I’d have to agree.

Guinness World Records shares a video of an Amazing Christmas Light Display Featuring nearly 5000 drones. Said to be the largest aerial display of a gingerbread village image created by drones, done by Sky Elements Drone Shows and UVify. Enjoy this incredible display!

Wishing you peace and joy on this Christmas Eve!”

I just love pictures of this
little church. It's such a cool
church. Would love to go there for
mass some day. And what a cool
video. Spectacular comes to mind.

Happy Christmas Eve Day,
everybody.

Forgot to say that I have pictures
of this little church shot from up
on the hills of Cliff Drive. It
was a ways off, but I got a pretty
good shot. I just love it.

Great shots of that church, and that video is amazing. Merry Christmas Eve to all . . . I'm looking forward to the end of the Hallmark movies at my house for another year . . !

Oh yes...that little church is always a Christmas
time photo. I don't think it's an "active" church,
more of a museum type thing.

Off the Keweenaw Reporter:

Christmas Eve luminaries honor lives lost over
one-hundred years ago

For many around the country, Christmas time
delivers joy and cheer.

That was the goal for a group at a Christmas Eve
party held in Calumet over 100 hundred years ago.
But the joy quickly turned to tragedy, and
Christmas Eve in Calumet would go on to have a
solemn feeling surrounding the community.

Each winter the Calumet Laurium Keweenaw Rotary
Club hosts a luminary ceremony to honor the lives
lost in the 1913 Italian Hall Disaster. The
candle-lit path leads to the front entrance of the
former Italian Hall, and the archway that still
stands. Near the archway stands a memorial with
the 73 names of the lives lost on December 24th,
1913.

Those interested in viewing the luminaries may
stop by the 400 block of 7th Street in Calumet
today and tomorrow. Please respect the items
placed at the site.

Very nice pix! “O Holy Night” comes to mind.
And what an amazing video! A new art form
has emerged. This would be great combined
with a fireworks display far off in the background
so that the drones wouldn’t be blown out of
the sky.

Beautiful pictures of the Phoenix Church. Many of my
relative's funerals services were held there, all
the way to present.

MERRY CHRISTMAS PASTY FAMILY!!
