Often times in the winter months, the snow is a bit lighter, meaning they don’t get quite as much at Taana Blom’s Chassell home near Lower Portage Entry. That’s due to their location near Lake Superior, but Taana says they are no longer living in the “banana belt” of the Copper Country this year, as they’ve gotten plenty of the white stuff so far. That’s her hubby, Todd out there snowblowing in the dark, after having cleared it all earlier in the day. He said they measured about 19 inches of snow in around 4 hours. Days like this you spend the whole day moving snow around, just to stay on top of it all.
Taana recorded Todd out there in action, too. When the snow is coming down like it did that day, it’s hard to make any progress, because once you get it all cleared, it’s filling in again and you have to start all over.

The pictures of Todd snow blowing after dark are so appealing! Love the backlit plume of snow high in the air.
Good to see the post from UC last night with the good news that he's doing better.

I have a video of someone blowing snow in the driveway, lost track of him for a moment. LOL I chat with people from other countries and sates, they say its hard to believe the snow we have so far. Wishing everybody a Happy Holiday.

Some more beautiful black and white photos, lol. I love the blowing snow ones. So cool. We've definitely gotten enough for this month already.

Snow is hard work...no question. I'm thrilled I don't deal with it anymore...but oh yeah, I've done years of shoveling.
That backlit snow blowing is beautiful! Looks like the roofs are next.

I wish my snowblower threw the white stuff that high and far! Here in CT we usually get the heavy, wet snow rather than the light, powdery kind that the Keweenaw receives. Looks like a banner winter's in store UP there with that much snow having fallen already. Great news for all the businesses that rely on it!

Impressive, however we received 2 to 3 inches here in Metro Detroit. Why we didn’t make the Top 10 Best Snow Destinations, I’ll never know.

Great pics and video! George, I'm with you on the height snow throwing of that machine in pics 3 & 4, that's got some HP behind it! lol Personally, I would have a pickup with a plow on it. Do most people clear their roofs off as well?

The lack of sunshine is really depressing!!

UC, years ago I bought a Yooper Scooper from Silver Bear Mfg in the UP and used it on my roof when we got over a foot or two. But no more roof climbing for me any more, I now use the roof rake and stay on terra firma. But I do use the snowblower on my deck, beats shoveling for sure.
