The Fall colors here in the U.P. seem to have started later this year for whatever reason and then the temperatures were unseasonably warmer than normal, too, so folks like Chad Johnson were able to get out and enjoy fall into the later weeks of October. This excursion took him and his partner, John, to the Victoria Dam, located on the Cisco Branch of the Ontonagon River. The dam and the reservoir were surrounded in Autumn hues, making the drive there well worth their while. From there they headed to the Porcupine Mountain State Park and snapped a couple photos of the Lake of the Clouds area. Absolutely beautiful, like a sea of yellow surrounding the Lake there.

They weren’t the only ones there, though. Chad said he’d never seen so many cars at the Porcupine Mountains. There were hundreds of cars parked outside of the park entrance and the line waiting at the gate was minimally 50 cars long. Most of the cars had out of state license plates. I think the secret of the beauty here UP North is out.

We join an episode of 906 Outdoors for Michigan’s September Youth Waterfowl Weekend, we go picking wild cranberries and wrap it up with a tame ruffed grouse. Sit back and enjoy!

Yet, another stellar set of pics!
The first one reminds me of a castle
nestled away on a Scottish countryside.
Now I’m off to cast a vote.
Thanks for the reminder, Mary. If we win,
you should get a commemorative plaque.

Beautiful pics and loved the friendly Partridge on
the video.

That third pic reminded me of my working days in
the U.P. and going from town to town to each
hospital. I really had to have the steel belts
hummin quickly if I was going to make it to, 2 or
3 hospitals and their various departments all in
one day. Dry almost empty roads were the most
vulnerable for the occasional random State Trooper
or Sheriff and that possible speeding violation.
lol I used to keep certain samples within arm's
reach just in case I was pulled over. The standard
line was, it was critical that I get these medical
products to this particular hospital because they
were dangerously low on supply. LOL it worked more
often than not. But the other side of those rides
were the beautiful scenery and how relaxing that
drive was with great tunes playing in the
background. Great memories. I always said, making
calls in the U.P. was not work, but a mini
vacation. lol Covering 3 states and driving 50K
miles/yr. was a true road warrior, really enjoyed
it. That third pic brought back great memories.

Vote completed!!

Beautiful set again today. Holy
smokes, there's beauty all around
us. I loved going to the Victoria
Dam, and it wasn't even fall. It's
a kit prettier now.

Voted!

Hi
Uncle Chuck, the third photo is my favorite, though
they are all gorgeous.

With regard to the cranberry picking, not only would
I not know where to go but I don't have waders to go
into a bog.
