For a few weeks, I actually thought we were not going to have as much snow as we normally do for Christmas. Boy was I wrong... I don’t know what the final total is for the Keweenaw, but I know we were pummeled with a lot of snow and high winds from Friday into Saturday with blizzard conditions. Much of the U.P. experienced the winds and blowing snow.

Brenda Leigh shares a few photos from before the onslaught began just a few days ago. Her first shot was snapped at 5:00 a.m. when she was outside shoveling some of the lake effect snow the storm began with. Brenda enjoys that time of the morning when it’s quiet, as it makes her feel like the only one awake. When she looked down her road and spotted this scene, she quick grabbed her camera to get a photo. It looks a bit mysterious and quite magical, I think.

The next shot of the wrought-iron hearts covered in snow, Brenda says represents the very best gift of any holiday season, two hearts supporting one another. I would definitely have to agree.

After the dumping of snow we’ve had, I’m not so sure I agree with Brenda’s caption on bottom photo, but she also quoted the song and it fit the blizzard weather perfectly...“Oh the weather outside is frightful...” I’m hoping we get a week or so off from more snow now. A girl can dream, right?

We join Beth Jukuri on a peaceful ski through what she calls her “cathedral of pines”. So pretty with the snow on the branches and you can hear the quiet of the woods with the snowflakes falling.

I love all of these winter pictures and the
video was cool too.

Now that I've quit sporting in the snow and playing in it, I'm only left with shoveling, driving and falling down in it. So it's great snow can create wonderful imagery.

Therefore for me, all the better to experience the beauty through the great photography of others rather than "live and in person".

Happy Boxing Day everyone.

Beautiful set of pictures of Wintry landscapes! Well put, Mary, the first one is beautiful and a bit mysterious and magical!
