A little different picture set from Nancy Haun...this old farmstead is her view when she goes out to her mailbox in the Skanee area. She said on this day, the scene was so photogenic with the snow covering that she had to grab her camera and snap a few photos. The property was originally owned by the Hartvigh family, but the Cooley’s have owned it for many years now. A new roof on the barn years ago, saved it for many more years. You can see two “partial” buildings on the right and left in the first photo. The ones to the right are seen in the second and third photo. The little building with the caving in roof was once the old Hartvigh Store when that family lived there. When the Cooley family took over the homestead, it was used to do crafts with the 4-H girls. Nancy says there are many memories around this building. Sadly it won’t be standing there much longer as it appears the front wall is the only thing holding up the rest of the building.
The fourth shot from Nancy is the Huron River on a day she visited there recently, when not a soul was around but her. Talk about peace and quiet, except for the sounds of the rushing waters that must have been happening.
Then we join Nancy in Herman on a cold 4° morning. She made this video from the front of the DSS&A Boarding House instead of the track side where she usually films. While waiting for the Canadian National to come by, she gives us a look at and some history of the buildings around there. Sit back and get comfy, as this one is just over 9 minutes long, but well worth the time.

Oh wow! What great pictures. They look like
paintings to me. It looks awfully cold out
there though. But Nancy is always willing to
brave the cold for some good pictures.
Thanks for sharing these. Will watch the
video later

Interesting shots. So glad they saved the barn, but sorry for the other buildings. After she mentioned the school i found a site with pictures of many of the old buildings, including the 2 story school. Enjoyed hearing her explain the history of the village too!
