Judy Byykkonen and friends are really adventurous and usually head outdoors at least once a week together. Recently they went on a hike starting at the Quincy Mine over to the top of Mt. Ripley ski hill. Oh my, the views they took in are quite outstanding from UP there. The fall colors at that point were just about done, with some still hanging on. There is just something about fallen leaves blanketing the ground and finding little niches to settle in like along the rail tracks in the first and second photos. Scenes like that definitely say Autumn/Fall to me. To top it all off, the setting sun coloring the sky for them made for a spectacular finish to their hike.
We’re taking a short ride-along with Will Gebhardt, on the Copper Harbor road to the Estivant Pines for a look at the colors. This was mid-October so the colors were still vibrant, but you can see the fallen leaves lining the sides of the road, too.

Sadly we have an announcement that came after today's Pasty Cam had been prepared for publication. Sharon Smith, the popular blogger of "A View From The Field", passed away at her home in Copper Harbor, only discovered last night. Her last blog post had been November 1.
I've seen these pictures that Judy took. I could never get tired of that view. And thanking the video for taking me along for the ride. Sorry to hear about Sharon. My condolences to the family.

I am so sad to learn of Sharon's passing. I enjoyed her website and journal.
If I remember correctly, Will's video stopped before the road becomes rough.

Sad about Sharon. She had been having some rough times of late with medical problems. Sort of an icon at Pasty.com

So sad to hear about Sharon Smith's passing. I've been a faithful reader of her blogs since she began them. May she rest in peace. Hope Grayson is ok and adopted.

I came here to look for any info about Sharon; I had a feeling things weren't 'right'. I hope it was quick and I hope someone is caring for Grayson now. I would take him but I'm way down in GA so don't think that would work. May her memory be a blessing.
