Located on the middle branch of the Ontonagon River and just a few miles from Paulding, is Bond Falls. Charles Paulson (a.k.a Uncle Chuck) and family made a visit there to check out the water cascading over the rocks in a 50 foot drop. Sure looks like Uncle Chuck, Vicki and Finnigan enjoyed their adventure there. I wonder if Finn wanted to take a dip in the water to cool off?

Here’s an interesting tidbit of information that I didn’t know before...there is a steady flow of water over Bond Falls, year round, controlled by a hydroelectric dam which is operated by the Upper Peninsula Power Company.

We take a look at another U.P. Falls over in the Watersmeet area, Kakabika Falls. Douglas Feltman brings us along on his adventure there, saying the main charm to visiting this waterfall is the hike through an old woods along the river. He also mentions that no matter when you go, there are always bugs...mosquitoes, gnats and even horseflies, so he suggests bringing a good bug repellent. Unless of course you make a winter visit, then you’ll avoid the bugs.
