Beth Jukuri has to change her driving habits when snow covers the country roads she travels on her mail route each day. You can see how shiny the snow is on the road, which means there’s ice which makes it slippery under her wheels. So Beth has to pay more attention to the road surface, but she still gets to view the interesting winter skies along the way, too, which she called dramatic this day that she captured them to share with us. I like how the clouds were just about covering the sun in some of the shots and then by the fourth photo, you could see some blue sky and just whisps of clouds in the sky. Another part of nature that is ever changing with the seasons and weather.

Our video gives us an almost live view of the sunset over Portage Lake. It was recorded Sunday morning and shows more of the changing sky as the clouds move across the horizon where the sun is just coming up.

Nice pics & video! Grandpa Norm loved to see those
perfectly plowed and manicured roads, he always
would comment..."Charlie look at these beautiful
roads, you won't find this just anywhere except here
in the Keweenaw!" lol

If there's one thing I don't like up here
it's the icy, winter roads. They're plowed
really good but they're still icy. The
older I get, the more I don't like them.
Very cool looking videos, though.

Nice video.

Sweet pix and a very rhythmic video...even the
clouds were shake'n their Beauty, Eh?

Very nice pics and video.

Deb,
I hear ya and I'm with ya. But I also HATE the snow. My time living in the Keweenaw gave me a lifetime of the white stuff. I actually enjoyed the mega-snow while living there. I don't mind the cold at all but even here in northern Illinois we get enough of the stuff and the occasional big blizzard (i.e. an average weekend in the U.P).

Seriously though, after the holidays I'm hitching up the trailer and heading south for a few weeks.

Awesome! Boy...those icy roads rocked when we were
young, 10 feet tall and bullet proof. lol...now? No
thanks. too old.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 - 11:04 am:

Donna, when I was young and more dumb, lol,
we'd get on our sleds and go all the way
down the hill we lived on and right across
main street. How dumb. We could have gotten
killed, lol.

D.A., I'm not a fan of the snow either. It
never seems to stop. But when the wind isn't
blowing, it's not bad. We were out in it
last night and the big flakes falling were
beautiful. I must have stayed outside for
maybe 10 minutes. (Insert wink)

That brings back memories of parking at the Sedona,AZ airport one evening just wrapping up watching the local air traffic when it began snowing. Omigosh, such big snowflakes — the size of saucers — falling ever so slowly and gently and landing so delicately on the windshield! A stunning sight.

I had no idea snowflakes could be that large; I have never seen snowflakes that large, neither before nor after that event.
