We are birdwatching with Chris Hendra, from Chris Hendra Photography. He is a photographer, specializing in wildlife photography and one look at his photos today, will tell you why. Chris gets us right up close and personal with each of today’s subjects, starting with the two Tom Turkeys. I bet they were glad he was only shooting them with a camera!

Then Chris turns his lens on some of the smaller birds that we see more often in the fall and winter months, the Downy Woodpecker, which is so similar to the Hairy Woodpecker except for size. The Nuthatch, which always makes me think of an acrobat, as it is upside down quite often while on the suet feeders they so enjoy. One of my favorites, the Chickadee. I love watching them flit back and forth to the feeders, always seeming to be in a hurry. Each of these shots are so vivid and clear, you could almost count the bird’s feathers.

Last, but not least, Chris snapped the deer photo during the brief moment when the setting sun turned the leaves on fire. Outstanding, both the deer in that field and the photography.

For more of Chris’ photography, check out the Facebook link above or his website here: ChrisHendra.com

Now we’re heading north to Delaware, for a look at a Copper Country Ghost Town – Delaware Mine, courtesy of Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula.

Oh my goodness! Do I wish I could take
pictures like these. The hubby and I could
sit and watch birds for hours. I love
birds! I especially love nuthatches and
chickadees, pretty much for the reasons
that Mary stated here. We've got seed for
them all the time. And we've got the suet
feeders out for the Bluejays and
woodpeckers. Yesterday we had two Pileated
woodpeckers right on our deck. We could only
get a picture of one through the window,
but it was fun watching them. I guess I
should have called on Chris.

Thanks for these outstanding shots to start
off our Monday with.
