The Black Creek Nature Sanctuary description on their webpage says: This moderately difficult, 4.5-mile trail is in the heart of the Keweenaw and provides varied landscapes and 1500 feet of Lake Superior Shoreline. A few days ago, Eric Byykkonen and his wife Susan took off on a winter hike on this trail and share a few photos with us to live vicariously through their adventure. They encountered the partially frozen creek along the way with the destination being the beautiful Lake Superior covered in white cap waves.
Eric captured the wave action of the Big Lake that day, too, complete with the sound of the waves crashing in. Make sure you turn up your volume and enjoy the sounds and sights of Lake Superior.

Splendid pix and video...at first glance, it looks like the individual in the first pic is carrying a 10 foot walking stick???

What a beautiful sanctuary - thanks for taking us along Eric! Sure wish we could enjoy this location ourselves. The crashing waves in the video makes me think about all the sailors who were ship wrecked during the bitter cold months.
