I’m not sure what the final count of Santas was, but there were at least five of them in the first Calumet/Laurium Santa Parade this past weekend. Village of Laurium and Main Street Calumet sponsored the parade and the communities came together to make it a special event for young and old alike. Santa on the Firetrucks, the Grinch walking along greeting parade watchers, Santa with several elves and a reindeer, Santa with a Pasty and ingredients...rutabaga, onion, potatoes & a carrot, too, decorated horses and riders, and even some Christmas musicians playing and singing Christmas music. Such a fun event and well appreciated as there were folks lining the streets in both towns. Our photos here today are courtesy of Brita Haapala. If you’d like to see more pictures of the parade, click on over to Brita Caroline Photography.
Main Street Calumet shared a video of the parade coming into Calumet. Just a warning it may make you crave a Pasty Central Pasty. It's too late to get them in time for Christmas, but orders in January (to more states) are open here: Pasty Central Pasties!

Greetings Mary and all:
RE: Yesterday's Sunday Photo of December 20, 2009
The photo is of Calumet in the Winter of 1888. Over the years has anyone determined the cross street shown in the right of that photo?
My guess is that street is the present day "Elm".
