The Bishop Baraga Shrine stands out on the Red Rocks this time of year, with the leaves fallen to the ground. Nancy Haun said she was sitting at the Red Rocks, waiting in traffic at the Head of the Bay when she snapped the first shot from the highway level. She marvels at how the Bishop’s expression looks different from every angle...sometimes he looks unhappy, sometimes a slight smile, sometimes happy. Nancy says that it might just be her, but she sees a difference from every direction she looks at the statue.
Our second photo was snapped from a different angle than we’re used to seeing the shrine. Nancy said it was so windy this day, that she couldn’t stand there long enough and only had time for one or two photos, before the wind nearly bowled her over!
Diane Richard took the third shot of a beautiful sunrise over Keweenaw Bay. But look closely on top the bluff, over to the right, you can just see Bishop Baraga in the shadows, standing there watching over us all as a new day begins. Beauty from the Heavens.
Nancy also shares a video on a different blustery day at the Shrine, with a freighter hunkered down in the Bay to get out of the winds that day. Looks like another day the wind was whipping Nancy around, too.

That is some wicked weather. My UP hub was on the other side of that bay at Lakeside Inn, Baraga. If I was there that day I'd be singing;
"Watching the ships roll in
then I watch them roll away again..."
