Moving around a bit on the Pasty Cam today, starting out with Dan Urbanski at Old Victoria, southwest of Rockland. Neat to see the restored buildings in a sunny winter setting like that in 2003. Gives a feel of what it must have been like in the winter there, when they were working the copper mines in the 1800’s.

We jump ahead thirteen years for the next shot, snapped by Beth Jukuri on a snowshoeing adventure at McLain Park in 2016. Looks like another world with the vast ice terrain and the Upper Entry Light off in the distance. What an interesting place to explore, no matter the season.

Our current photo for today is right in my own backyard. I snapped this one while my hubby was out plowing the driveway on Sunday. We’re running out of room to push the snow now. You can see the piles stacked against each other and piled higher than the cab of the truck. Is winter almost over?

Bob Gilreath made this video, Sunday evening. That’s his wife Liz shoveling their furnace vent pipe out for the night. She’s standing on the ground there, so you can tell the snow is quite deep now. For those folks that don’t live in snow country, us Yoopers have to be sure the vents are clear of snow, otherwise deadly carbon monoxide can build up in your home. Winter here UP North is like living in a different world.

Hoping you guys are getting all shoveled out UP there. Looks like that blizzard was quite the whopper! Lotta residual wind yesterday and today here in CT but no blowing and drifting snow. Still have confidence that Heikke Lunta will arrive here in March, though, for a little winter finale.

All living things, given half a chance, will either make, eat, or become compost. The weather we are having at least slows the whole process down.

The snow thermometer folks at the Keweenaw County Road Commission in Mohawk recorded 22 inches for the weekend storm with 18 inches just on Sunday. That's a lot but it still seems light based on the pictures and videos posted. I would have guessed a least a bit more than that. Still, they show 46 inches on the ground. That is quite a bit on the ground with 264 inches so far for the year.

I should add that another polar vortex is expected by some during the next 2 weeks. Let's hope not.

There's always the problem of where do you put it all after awhile. Hope everyone has a CO2 detector.

Yes, D. A. (Midwested) it sounds like another polar dip is on the way. I think that will constitute coming in like a lion!!
