The archives for this day had a couple of unsuspecting critters caught on camera. Back in 2006, Bill Haller (RIP) snapped this squirrel who was in quite the predicament at his Bete Grise home. It almost looks like he has his hands wrapped around the “bars” of the feeder, like he’s in jail. I wonder how Bill got him out of there…
Our second archive photo was taken in 2010, by E. Neil Harri. He was doing the annual wolf count, flying over Gogebic County and he said he found this pack of five, because one of the wolves had a radio collar on. If you’re having trouble spotting the fifth wolf, look at the base of the pine trees to the right of the opening between the trees.
Today’s video gives you an idea of how us Yoopers spent yesterday. In case you didn’t hear, we had blizzard conditions, with 68 mph gusts of wind for most of the day. I’m not certain what the final count in inches is, but I know we had four and five foot drifts in our driveway and higher on the roads. The video was shot by Copper World in Calumet, right down Fifth Street where the Copper Dog begins this Friday. Stay tuned for more blizzard aftermath on tomorrow’s Pasty Cam!

Thanks for the video Mary! Looks like they'll have enough snow for the races!

The top photo is a very destructive and nasty red squirrel. I am in a constant battle to keep them out of my roof. In the video I like the drift in front of Keweenaw Coffee.

Yesterday, I could tell that conditions were bad but that video shows just how powerful that blizzard was. I remember some bad ones but nothing like that in just 24 hours or so.

Ah Yes brings back fond memories. We just got the wind and lost power for day and a half. But that is why god made generators. Happy shoveling and scooping.
