Six years ago we visited Michilimackinac State Park, courtesy of Madeline Okerman Adie and her two great postcard books The Straits of Mackinac and Mackinaw City. Back again this morning, recalling a night spent there 6 years ago. With my late wife Edie, we were returning from a two week winter road trip that saw us deliver 500 pasties to The Villages in Florida, and make a wide sweep up the east coast visiting relatives along the way. Warm memories of that winter, something that would have been difficult this year because of the extreme conditions.

On a cold and stormy day like today it's good to have those warm memories, isn't it Charlie?

I see the Bridge is back open with a Wind Escort now.

I went to the mtu webcams and the only one you can really see is the clock tower. I was looking at that one this morning and watched two people hanging on to each other to stay upright.

Great big pine tree outside of our porch, is just blowing away. Good to be inside, nice and warm, watching the weather.

We're having a big blow here too but with clear skies most of the day. Nothing at all like what the U.P. is experiencing. Winds so strong and prevailing I see they are producing 25 foot waves in the Marquette area. Stay safely indoors.

Chunk of ice broke off a cable wire on the Mackinaw Bridge and went through the passenger side wind shield of a pick up truck....no injuries.

Have never seen so many closed roads on the MDOT website ~ including M-26. If you can, stay put and ride it out where you are!!!

...just noticed the Raider snowmobile in 2016; I have a buddy in Lake Orion that had two of those...sweet machines.
