We look back to 2008 for our first snowy archive shot and it’s a doozy. Sharon Smith took this one of the road that led to her Copper Harbor home. Imagine driving through that tunnel each day to get back and forth. On a sunny day like in the photo it wouldn’t be so bad, but if it snows and the wind picks up, you’re not going anywhere on that road.
The next photo doesn’t have as much snow as the first one. It was taken by Ashlee Harvey in 2010, on a drive to the Keweenaw to check out Lake Superior. Surprising there wasn’t much ice built up on the Big Lake at this point. Must have been a milder winter that year.
Not so, this year, as February has been quite the snowy month so far. We’ve been having snow event, after snow event and when that happens, the snow banks get pretty high. Today’s video was made on February 13th, just a week ago, by Edward Bennetts, showing the snow in his Marquette neighborhood. There’s plenty!
